My 3 Best Takeaways from KBIS This Year

The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) is a massive annual event where manufacturers debut their newest products to industry folks, like interior designers. This year the festivities were held in Las Vegas. But there seemed to be a stark contrast between the glitz of the city and the soft & neutral wares which were on display inside. Here are my 3 favorite trends, plus be sure to catch the freebie at the end of this post!

Kitchen with neutral colors

Neutrals, Neutrals and More Neutrals

They say in times of economic unease, people gravitate towards neutral colors. That was plain to see at the show this year. Stunning combinations of grays, beiges, whites and blacks mixed with every type of metal finish. Mostly the metals are still stainless steel and brushed brass or gold. These soothing pallets were everywhere, with a few exceptions (notably the color blue).

Geometric pattern on tile floor bathroom

Geometrics Galore

It has been getting more and more popular for many years now….geometric patterns on tile, wallpaper, light fixtures, even plumbing fixtures. But this year they dominated over any type of organic or botanical theme. This I love because geometry will never go out of style. Think Art Deco shapes or Craftsman tile. The soothing repetition is beautiful.

Japanese soaking tub in bathroom

The Luxurious Soaking Tub

A freestanding tub has been a must-have for a few years now but today, we are seeing them in much larger sizes. There are now many soaking tubs built for two. And they seem to be getting deeper and deeper, some with their own ladders for ease of entry. I love these tubs as they seem to be the ultimate in bathing bliss.

These were just 3 of my faves at KBIS this year. There was endless inspiration! I would love to share more with you if you’re planning on getting a new kitchen or bath this year.
